Originating in Cambridge and now rooted in London, Ugly fuse inspiration from sacred choral harmonies, sprawling post-rock, and the melodic warmth of '60s and '70s folk-rock into something unique and constantly evolving. Rather than retreading familiar ground, the sextet's songwriting is an exercise in contrast, new ideas and the rejection of convention. It is a quest to summon music that is an accurate representation of all 6 of the group's distinct voices.
