THISISTMRW welcomes MARK E

THISISTMRW are very, very proud to be bringing local DJ/Disco Edit/Producer MARK E to The Bulls Head on Saturday 28th May to launch his highly anticipated album, STONEBREAKER on Matthew Dear’s Ghostly International label.

Taking the same kind of sonic liberties with dance music that My Bloody Valentine were making with guitar music in the late 80s, Mark E has been serving up heavy-hearted melodies and hypnotic loops channelled through down-beat-disco funnels since 2005 – Always driving, but always organic in sound, even his deepest, acid-splashed tracks maintain a very humanoid, accessible feel.

Whether he’s remixing the likes of Matthew Dear, Clinic or Shit Robot; working over a classic Grace Jones track, extending the foreplay and holding back the chorus till it’s too late to switch off; or creating his own rumbling, wall-of-sound anthems (See Nobody Else), Mark E/Merc Records is fast becoming Birmingham’s finest export brand, and with his back catalogue being my personal favourite (late) musical discovery of the past year, I can’t wait for you lot to get stuck-in too

DJ Support comes from Fabric London fixture and remix wizard DISCO BLOODBATH and local synth-molesters FREE SCHOOL (TIRK records) – And anyone who buys an advance ticket HERE gets an exclusive mix from the man himself…See you there!

Thisistmrw Mix. 11 – Pandas and People

With local heroes Johnny Foreigner having just released a new EP and now working on album no. 3 with local wizard Dom James, 6music favourites Pandas and People having wrapped up their debut album at Liverpool’s Sandhill Studios (Tantrums, Victories At Sea, SCC) and local dark horses Vs having recently added a certain live drummer to their already intimidating artillery, Tuesday April 26th at the Hare & Hounds is all set to be a night of revelations, and we can’t blummin’ wait

It’s probably appropriate then, that we finally publish this gorgeous mix Pandas made for us back in the new year, a genre-hopping feast from the influences behind their own widescreen, heartfelt, pop-conscious-but-always-forward-thinking *pant* sound…

So download yer free Mix, books yer tickets in advance (I know we always say it but they are selling fast!) say hi on the ol’ Fb event page, and we’ll see you there!
